A shared call to run, empower and transform lives through girl-child education.

The Vice Chancellor of Divine International University (DIU) was warmly welcomed by the clergy and faithful at Virika Catholic Cathedral in Fort Portal Tourism City during Sunday Mass on 25 October 2026.
Addressing the congregation, the Vice Chancellor shared an inspiring message on community development, youth empowerment and the transformative power of education. At its heart was a call to take part in the DIU Edu-Tourism Run on Saturday, 7 November 2026.
Our core purpose
The run brings education and tourism together to raise scholarship funds so girls can complete their higher education. Every participant helps remove financial barriers and open doors for young women to achieve their academic dreams.
Church leadership commended DIU’s commitment to social impact and encouraged the congregation, well-wishers and corporate partners to join the cause.
Let us unite to run, empower and transform lives. Save the date and support girl-child education.

Hon. Kamuli Kutesa and Hon. Peter Ogwang are among the key dignitaries who have confirmed their participation in Divine International University’s upcoming Edu-Tourism Run on 7 November 2026.

“I will definitely be there.”
Hon. Peter Ogwang
Hon. Kamuli has welcomed the young university’s focus on the girl child. The run will bring participants and partners together to help disadvantaged girls take the next step in their education.
The Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development in charge of culture, and MP for Mwenge South Constituency, Hon. Kamuli Kutesa, joins her education counterpart, Hon. Peter Ogwang, in supporting the initiative. Hon. Ogwang also represents Ngariam County in Katakwi District, in the Teso sub-region.
Despite interventions by government and civil society, many girls still face barriers to continuing their education to tertiary and university levels. The Edu-Tourism Run aims to rally national attention to these challenges, especially in the Tooro and Rwenzori region.
Conflict, including attacks by the ADF, HIV/AIDS, poverty and early pregnancies have disrupted education and left higher education beyond the reach of many young people.
Proceeds from the run will help establish a scholarship fund for bright but disadvantaged young people to pursue tourism-related courses, with a focus on supporting girls.
University Vice Chancellor Prof. Adolf Mbaine says the inaugural run is intended to become an annual event.
